Natalie’s roots are in both central Iowa (go Hawkeyes!) and Cincinnati, Ohio. She graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Studies in 2012. After vacationing regularly in Eastern North Carolina, she jumped at the opportunity to move to the Crystal Coast full-time and now lives in Atlantic Beach with her sweet (and very spoiled!) 10-year-old chocolate lab, Chloe. Natalie has a passion for service-focused small business and leading others—prior to joining the Lucas Research team she spent five years building and running a local small business. In her free time, she loves to travel, cook, read, and play beach volleyball with friends.
Natalie’s laugh and sense of humor is contagious! She has been a welcome addition to the team and we are so glad she’s here!
Lisa was born in Chesapeake VA and moved to NC in 1993. She lives in Newport with her husband Joey. She has a son Ethan, a step son Kyle, a step daughter Katie and two beagles Chipper and Dixie! On most weekends you will find her at the ball park with Ethan or watching Kyle perform with the Marching Patriots! They also love to travel and have been on all of the Lucas Research adventures. Lisa has over 25 years of experience with medical insurance billing and has been with Dr. Lucas since opening the practice in 2004.
Even though most of her work is behind the scenes, Lisa is essential to our team. Her positive attitude and willingness to help others are two of the many reasons why we love her so much!
Savannah was born in Brandon, Vermont, but her family traded snow for sand and moved to Newport, NC when she turned 11. She graduated from East Carolina University in 2016 with a degree in Public Relations. Family is Savannah’s driving force. She is the oldest of four children as she has two brothers and one sister — with a 17-year age gap between her and her youngest brother. Her partner, Chris, has three children, and on weekends her families get together to hang out as one big family! Savannah is our newest momma on the team, as she recently had her first child – a baby boy named Casper! She also has one very excitable pound puppy named Luda, whom her parents lovingly refer to as their “gran-dogger.” In her free time, Savannah enjoys playing Scrabble and cards, reading to her kids, and going to the beach.
Savannah has hit the ground running in her role on the Administrative Team and we are happy to have her on-board!
Kelly grew up in Mechanicsville, Virginia as the oldest of six children. She moved to Charlotte, NC to attend Wingate University and graduated with a degree in Human Services. She lived in Charlotte for a decade before deciding to return to her small-town roots and relocate to the Crystal Coast. Kelly’s absolute favorite part of life is her two little boys — they sure keep her on her toes! Kelly also loves her three dogs: Sophie, Bella, and Guinness (she has also spent most of her adult life fostering dogs). Kelly loves being outside (in the cooler months), running, reading, and eating. And most importantly – football. GO PANTHERS!
Kelly is amazing! Her calmness and smile puts everyone at ease and she’s a valuable asset to our team!
Luke was raised here in Morehead City, but left after high school to earn a Bachelor of Science degree from Hawaii Pacific University in 2014. Luke returned to the Crystal Coast after his four years in Hawaii to be closer to family and join a research team at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration in Beaufort. He also ran his own wholesale seafood distribution business before joining Lucas Research in October 2017. Luke loves fishing, surfing, diving, and boating with his fiancée (and our teammate) Julia.
Luke is always ready to jump in and help with anything that needs to be done, and we are lucky to have him!

Kady was born and raised in Germany and has been living in Morehead City for three years now. Kady met her husband Nick, who is a Carteret County native, while both were studying abroad in Israel. While finishing up her undergraduate degree, Kady went back and fourth between the US and Germany until Nick moved to Germany for two years. The two traveled extensively throughout Europe and still try to travel as much as they possibly can. After receiving her Master’s degree in Energy and Resources, it was Kady’s turn to move to the US. In her free time Kady enjoys reading, painting, and hiking. Kady and Nick also just had a beautiful baby boy named Sam and are beyond excited!
Kady started at Lucas Research just two weeks before her due date! Talk about drive! If that’s not impressive, Kady’s intelligence and eagerness to learn are tremendous.

Rachel was born in Champaign County, Ohio, but soon after, her family decided to move to the Crystal Coast. She was raised in Carteret County and went on to attend Peace College, where she majored in Biology, minored in Psychology and played four years of basketball. After living the city life in Raleigh, Rachel decided to move back to the beach… and has never looked back. She enjoys a good run, the boat, kayaking, concerts, traveling, fashion, food and her very sweet (but very bad) dog Cali.
Rachel is always happy to jump in and help out wherever she is needed and we love her for it!
Andrea was born and raised in the great state of Kansas. After graduating from Kansas State University with a Bachelor’s in Kinesiology she embarked on the great adventure of marrying a United States Marine Corps Aviator. In the past four years she’s lived in five different states and completed her Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies. The next big adventure on the horizon is a duty station in Japan, but in the mean time Andrea is ecstatic to bring her skills and go-getter attitude to the Lucas Research team. When she’s not helping the team you can find her perfecting her s’mores technique around a campfire, searching for sweet mountain bike trails, dabbling in photography, and loving every dog she meets.
We are so happy that Andrea decided to join us and secretly hope that she decides to stay forever! Her easy-going approach and calmness has been a welcome addition to the team!

Virginia is constantly thinking of new ways to make Lucas Research a better place for team members and patients alike. She loves our patients dearly and makes sure that they know that. Having a team member that cares about Lucas Research as much as Virginia does makes all of our jobs better!

Jessica believes her life journey led her to Lucas Research, encompassing her need to serve others, quest for knowledge, and pursuit to make a difference in peoples’ lives.
If there was anyone born to work with and serve others, it is Jessica. She is always so upbeat and positive to the point that it becomes contagious; it is difficult to be around her without smiling and laughing.

Jule was born and raised in Carteret County. After receiving her B.A. in Political Science and English from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, she attended North Carolina State University where she received a Master of Accounting degree. She stayed in Raleigh working as a CPA for a Big Four accounting firm before coming back to the area to help manage her family’s business. Jule began as the Financial Controller at Lucas Research in late 2016 and loves the enthusiasm of her team members. She enjoys travelling the world with her fiancé, James, and boating with her yellow lab, Pearl.
Jule has been a rock star on our team since Day 1! She never backs down from a challenge and has brought immense value to the practice; some days we don’t know how we ever made it without her! Along with her intelligence, Jule’s friendly spirit and down-to-earth nature make her a joy to work with (despite the fact that she is a Tar Heel). We are extremely lucky to have her!
Julia was raised in Morehead City after her parents settled down from a long military career. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Policy from Hawaii Pacific University in 2017, and then promptly decided that the Crystal Coast is a different and more special type of paradise. After four exciting years in Honolulu, including many international excursions with her fiancé Luke, Julia joined Lucas Research in May 2017. Her weekends are spent with her family and their two gargantuan Labradors either at the beach or on Luke’s boat!
Julia’s sweet, fun spirit has made her a quick hit with her teammates! We are very happy she missed her hometown while she was away in paradise; Lucas Research is lucky to have her!
Seth Medlin grew up in a small town just outside Charlotte. The family owned and operated several businesses so it was inevitable he would become an entrepreneur. Seth obtained his bachelor’s degree in accounting from ECU, and then studied computer science at UNC-Greensboro. Seth worked as a computer software engineer in Little Rock, Arkansas and Atlanta, Georgia before moving to Carteret County in 2000. Atlanta was a sea of cars and Seth’s family longed for a real ocean.
Seth & Jeannie founded Diabetes & Endocrinology Consultants, now Lucas Research in 2004. If Seth is in town, you will most likely find him at the office. Lucas Research has allowed his family to be a positive force to more lives than they could have ever imagined. They do travel 5 or 6 weeks a year and have lost count of visits to Hawai’i. Morehead City is home now; home is where the o’hana is. If dreams come true there will be a second home on the west side of Kohala Mountain on the island of Hawai’i one day. Everyone needs a dream.
We would not be where we are today without all the hard work, dedication, and creativity of Seth. Lucas Research is the success it is because he was not afraid to think outside the box and create a medical practice that does things a little differently. If you ever wonder what makes Lucas Research so special, it is the culture and vision that Seth worked on creating from day one.
